The regulating ecosystem services are important in urban areas to help keep environmental conditions within safe and comfortable limits. Conventional urban microclimate models lack/have limited capability of accurately representing climate fields at district scale. A modified version of OpenFOAM, a computational fluid dynamic (CFD) model, integrates vegetation and anthropogenic heat with the urban microclimate to help choosing the optimum landscape design and urban form out of numerous alternatives. This tool uses cutting edge rendering techniques to visualize the volumetric wind simulation time-series data to help researchers better evaluate and improve landscape designs.
