A wayfinding study conducted in the Seattle Central Library (SCL) mapped the paths participants took to understand how building characteristics, individual characteristics and contextual factors influenced multilevel wayfinding. The 'SCL Heatmaps' project visualizes, and allows the analysis of, the trajectories from the study which are mapped onto a three-dimensional floor plan. Replaying the trajectories, with multi-criteria filtering capabilities, supported the researchers in deriving wayfinding strategies and errors in relation to the building's characteristics. The tool also generated images and videos that were used in publications, to help readers understand the complexity of the building and the challenges wayfinders encountered.
